What’s Right isn't always

"What’s Right isn't always popular...
And what's
popular isn't always Right..."
Let me share a story with you today…
Once upon a time, there was a man named Jack, who used to work at the track interchange but once fall into a dilemma and was not able to decide because a gaggle of youngsters was playing near two railway tracks, one still in use while the opposite not. Only one child played on the unused track, the remainder on the operational track. A train is coming, and jack is just beside the track interchange. Jack can make the train change its course to the unused track and save most of the kids. However, that might also mean the lone child playing by the unused track would be sacrificed. Now jack changes the course of the train to an unused track and sacrifices only one child.
Let's pause to think what kind of decision we would make if we were in place of jack................
Most people would agree with jack and they might choose to divert the course of the train and sacrifice only one child. Save most of the youngsters at the expense of just one child was a rational decision most of the people would make, morally and emotionally.
But, have you ever thought that the kid who chose to play on the unused track had made the proper decision to play at a secure place? Nevertheless, he had to be sacrificed because of his ignorant friends who chose to play where the danger was.
But the great critic Leo Velshi Julian who told the story said he wouldn't attempt to change the course of the train because he believed that the youngsters playing on the operational track were aware that the track was still in use, which they might run away once they hear the train’s sirens.
Now, if the train was diverted, that lone child would die because he never expects that a train could come across on the unused track! Further, that track wasn't in use probably because it had been not safe. If the train was diverted to such a track, we may put the lives of all passengers on board at stake! And in our plan to save few kids thinking that the train may run over them, we'd find yourself sacrificing many people. While we are all aware that life is filled with tough decisions that require to be made, we might not realize that a hasty decision might not always be the right one.
This kind of dilemma happens around us every day. In the office, community, politics, and particularly during a democratic society, the proper is usually sacrificed for the interest of the bulk, regardless of how foolish or ignorant the majority are, and the way far-sighted and knowledgeable the wise are.
